2014 FAA2583 STABLE STARS

Summer Wind Farm
Damascus MD
2014

A barnstar is a painted object or image, often in the shape of a five-pointed star but occasionally in a circular "wagon wheel" style, used to decorate a barn in some parts of the United States. They have no structural purpose but may be considered lucky, akin to a horseshoe mounted over a doorway.

No matter the material, these bold stars are also known as Pennsylvania stars or primitive stars. The primitive stars were commonly installed on barns by early Dutch and German settlers to ward off evil. The stars are known to bring good luck to farmers, too.

Summerwind Farm is an equestrian training facility located in the rolling hills of central Maryland – Damascus, MD (30 miles North of Washington, DC and 30 miles West of Baltimore, MD)- specializing in the western event of “reining”. Summerwind Farm has been the home of over 35 world championships, multiple National Reining Horse Association “Top Ten” finalists, bronze trophy winners, Rookie of the Year awards, as well as AQHA congress winners and “Top Ten” finalists. In addition to showing, riders from Summerwind have participated in reining demonstrations at such prestigious venues as the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden and the International Horse Show in Washington, DC.

Since 1993, non-pro and open riders from this facility have won in excess of $1,000,000 in addition to numerous youth world championships! Owner/Trainer Bob is an NRHA multiple World Champion with NRHA earnings in excess of $191,000. He, along with associate trainers, Kendal Boren, and Laura Holcomb are responsible for training, lessons, showing, and saddle breaking young horses.

Showing is only one facet of Summerwind’s operation. Starting the young horse and introducing reining maneuvers such as the stop, spin, and back up at an early age have become mandatory in this ever increasing competitive sport. Horses are started as long yearlings and by their two year old year are able to execute basic reining maneuvers. Lessons and show strategy for the greenest of riders to the old show hands are available to Summerwind’s customers.

Success is no surprise at Summerwind Farm Reining Horses! Come ride, slide and have the time of your lives!
