From a sixteen century inn to tavern
The story of Zà Zà in brief.
Tuscan cuisine since 1977

In the lively and crowded environment of the Central Market of San Lorenzo, in the heart of the city of Florence,
was founded the restaurant Za Za, in one of the buildings survived at the time ...

Or maybe it's better to say that it is here that still lives: where now Za Za, in fact, since the early nineteenth century there was a small inn.

It is 1977 when Stefano Bondi, born at number 18 of the Main Market Square in the old house of aunt Tonina ,
baptizes with the name Za Za this dining room and open to the public. It was April 7.

Stefano Bondi , owner and soul of the Zà Zà restaurant since 1977, was born right in Piazza del Mercato Centrale. The first shop, with cask wine, cured meats and cheeses, was bought by the Bondi family, by father Silvano who had a counter in the Central Market and by mother Mara who has spent her life in the kitchen of Zà Zà from the beginning, and who he taught his son a lot.
Stefano has always had many passions, in addition to the primary one of good cooking and culinary research , the one for music , which also makes him compose and play, the one for antiques , which leads him to search for objects and furniture with a story, the one for racehorses, which sees him as a breeder and driver, the one for writing and studying, to deepen concepts and notions that translate into experience, such as the dishes that we can savor in his restaurant.

NINETEENTH CENTURY
The Florentine artist Alfio Rapisardi, present with his works in various important collections, a friend of the family, wanted to give the third room of the restaurant, which was called the '800' because it was furnished with period furniture, his colorful frescoes. Eating in this room is like being part of a painting!
