Alley of Five
Vicolo Del Cinque 64
Trastevere
Rome Italy
2016

Vicolo del Cinque is a street in the Trastevere district between Via della Scala and Piazza Trilussa.
It owes its name to the "Del Cinque" or "De' Cinque" family who had their palace here, still easily recognizable at the corner with Via del Moro.

The road system, like many streets in the Trastevere district, dates back to the Middle Ages, and along the road there is the aforementioned Palazzo Del Cinque, of sixteenth-century origin, and that of the Theoli family, also dating back to the sixteenth century and inhabited by the noble family Rome very influential during the Middle Ages.

Along the road there is also an important Marian Edicule, the Madonna della Pietà .

The road, however narrow, represents an important urban artery for the connection between Piazza Trilussa, and consequently Ponte Sisto and the other bank of the Tiber, and Via della Scala , an important road axis between Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and Via della Lungara.

This strategic function has favored the commercial success of this street, now pedestrianized and full of restaurants and bars that represent the heart of life in Trastevere. Among them we cannot fail to mention the famous Cencio la Parolaccia restaurant, known for insulting customers (and also featured in the film Sympathetic and Disliked ), the cocktail bars G-Bar and Mr Brown or the book and chocolate shop.

Colorful Trastevere is a funky, bohemian area that clings to its centuries-old, working-class roots. It's known for traditional and innovative trattorias, craft beer pubs and artisan shops, as well as simple B&Bs and budget hotels. From the pre-dinner passeggiata (promenade) until late, a young crowd buzzes around Piazza di San Calisto and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the site of a gilded, mosaic-filled church.
