2016

Located on the right side of the Tiber River, right in front of Sisto Bridge, stands Piazza Trilussa in Trastevere, a little square that has become one of the most famous meeting places in Rome for both locals and tourists. When the sun goes down, Piazza Trilussa in Trastevere fills up with people ready to hang out and grab a drink in one of the many cafes and restaurants overlooking the square.

At the centre of Piazza Trilussa stands the beautiful fountain commissioned by Pope Paolo V Borghese to the architect Carlo Fontana. Originally the fountain was built on the opposite side of the river in front of Via Giulia and was moved to Piazza Trilussa only in 1989.

The Fountain, which is made of travertine blocks, features an arch dating back to 1613 enclosed between pillars and columns. The column bases are finely decorated with dragons, the heraldic symbol of the Borghese family. The water flows out from the mouths of the dragons.
