Dumbo the Flying Elephant is located in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. The colors of the attraction are striking, and the blues, reds and golds fit in perfectly with the circus theme.

The center of the carousels feature Baby Dumbo being delivered by the stork. If you look closely, you'll see the story of Dumbo from the classic animated film unfolding in a set of artwork story panels. Starting with the train Casey, Jr. arriving in town, move around the ride and watch the story develop. Around the bottom of the ride are water fountains that spill out over colored LED lights, making this a spectacular attraction to witness at night.

The two Dumbo carousels are right next to each other, rotating in opposite directions!

Tip: Look on the ground for signs that the circus has rolled into town - you'll find wagon tracks, monkey and bear "footprints", and even peanut shells dropped by Dumbo and his friends!

Guests are also able to experience an array of fun-filled family games and interactive wonders inside the Big Top interactive queue before taking to the skies on this Fantasyland favorite. Guests in the Standby queue head into the pre-boarding area to play while they wait (you are given a pager that will buzz when it's your turn to ride Dumbo). Guests using Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane to experience the attraction get to skip the Big Top and head straight to the ride.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is an aerial carousel-style ride located in Fantasyland at six Disney parks around the world. It is based on the 1941 film, Dumbo. The original attraction opened at Disneyland on August 16, 1955. The four other versions of the attraction were opening-day attractions at their respective parks. It is the only attraction that can be found at all six Disney castle parks worldwide.

One elephant from the ride is in the collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., donated in 2005, on the occasion of Disneyland's 50th anniversary.

Based on the character from the 1941 animated feature, the 16 ride vehicles each resemble Dumbo, and are mounted on articulated armatures connected to a rotating hub. The passengers ride in the "Dumbos" and can maneuver them up and down with a joystick that operates a hydraulic ram. The ride itself rotates counterclockwise at a constant rate.

A figure of Timothy Q. Mouse, currently voiced by Chris Edgerly, rides atop the central hub. Originally at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, the figure held a training whip and stood on a disco ball. With the exception of Tokyo Disneyland, he currently stands on a hot air balloon and holds the "magic feather". Starting in 2012, Magic Kingdom's Timothy currently spins with his magic feather on top of the attraction's marquee.
