The facade is slightly concave and turns to the two sides of the building for the depth of a window ; the base is rusticated and ends in a band decorated with a fret ; the portal , rectangular flanked by two windows, is surmounted by the coat of arms of Clement IX .

On the base there are four pilasters resting on pedestals , two at the corners and two that frame a large arch with inscriptions , the hospital coat of arms and a lion's head above. On the sides, between the pilasters, two windows, two oculi and two loggia windows . The facade ends with a massive cornice on which the statues of Charity and Abundance are placed on the sides and in the center a pediment with the coat of arms of Paul V , founder of the Bank.

The upper floors of the facade were designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger to resemble a Roman triumphal arch. On the sides of the massive cornice are the statues of Charity and Abundance and in the center a gable with the coat of arms of Paul V, founder of the Bank. Built between 1521 and 1524, this palace was home to a bank, a hospital and a mint. The pope had the hospital built to convince the Roman people to deposit their savings in the bank. The palace was also the seat of the Papal Mint which issued the paolo, a gold coin circulated throughout Italy between the 16th and 18th centuries.
